Protect Faces Before Sharing Online

Sharing classroom photos, event crowds, or street-style shots online comes with a privacy responsibility. Draw blur zones over each face and download a redacted copy that respects everyone in frame.

Used by schools, journalists, and travel bloggers who want to share atmospheric photos without exposing identifiable bystanders.

Why Use Our Face Blur Tool?

Auto Face Detection

Click Auto-Find Faces to automatically detect and blur every face in the photo using the detection engine face detection library. The tool scans the image in the browser and adds blur zones over each detected face without any server processing or API calls.

Manual Draw Zones

Draw blur zones manually by dragging anywhere on the image. Each zone is independently resizable, drag the corner handles to adjust size, drag the body to reposition, and click the red × button to remove. You can have as many zones as you need.

Blur or Pixelate

Choose between a smooth Gaussian blur effect or a hard-edged pixelate effect. Both support Rectangle and Ellipse shapes so you can precisely cover faces, licence plates, addresses, or any other detail that needs to be hidden. Adjust the intensity slider from subtle to heavy.

Private, No Upload

Everything runs entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image is never sent to any server, never stored, and never processed outside your device. The download button saves the finished image directly from the canvas to your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about blurring and pixelating faces online.

Does the face blur tool upload my photo to a server?
No. The entire tool runs in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API and the detection engine library. Your image is loaded into a canvas element on your device and never transmitted to any server. The downloaded file is generated locally from the canvas and saved directly to your device.
What is the difference between blur and pixelate?
Blur applies a smooth Gaussian blur using the CSS filter API, creating a soft, cloud-like effect over the selected area. Pixelate downsamples the region to large visible blocks, creating a classic mosaic effect. Both hide the underlying content effectively, the choice is a visual preference.
Why did Auto-Find Faces not detect any faces?
Face detection uses the detection engine library which works best on frontal faces that are clear and reasonably large in the image. It may miss faces that are very small, turned sideways, partially obscured, or in low contrast conditions. If detection fails, you can draw manual blur zones by dragging directly on the image.
Can I blur things other than faces?
Yes. The manual draw mode lets you place blur or pixelate zones anywhere on the image, licence plates, street signs, text, addresses, or any sensitive detail. Draw as many zones as you need, resize them with the corner handles, and adjust the intensity per session using the slider.
