Resize an Image to the Exact Pixels or File Size

Resize an Image to the Exact Pixels or File Size

Designers, marketers, and developers all need precise pixel dimensions for hero images, banners, and avatars. Type the target width and height and the resizer outputs an image at exactly that size, with no rounding errors.

When a form or upload caps the file size, turn on Optimize File Size and set the KB. The tool steps the quality down until the image fits, so you can resize an image in KB without guessing. Need many files at once? The bulk image resizer handles a whole folder, while this single-image flow stays the fastest path for one-off assets.

Why Use Our Image Resizer

Two Resize Modes

Resize by exact pixel dimensions or by percentage scale from 1% to 200%. Switch between modes instantly using the tab switcher in the sidebar, both modes show a live new-size preview before you download.

Aspect Ratio Lock

Lock Aspect Ratio mode automatically calculates the matching dimension as you type. Change the width and the height updates instantly, and vice versa. Toggle the lock off for free-form stretching.

Everything happens in your browser. Your image is read on your device and never sent to a server. There are no file size restrictions and no account, just open, resize, and download.

All Image Formats

Supports JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and any image your browser can open. Downloads as a high-quality PNG, keeping transparency, or as a compressed JPEG when you set a target KB.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about resizing images online.

Will resizing reduce the image quality?
Enlarging an image (scaling up) softens it because the extra pixels are interpolated, there is no new detail to add. Scaling down generally stays sharp. For the cleanest result, resize down from a larger original rather than blowing up a small one.
What format is the resized image?
By default the resized image downloads as a PNG, which is lossless and keeps transparency. When you turn on Optimize File Size to hit a target KB, it downloads as a JPEG instead, since JPEG compresses to much smaller sizes.
Is there a maximum file size or image dimension limit?
There is no server-side limit because the tool runs entirely in your browser. Very large images may require more device RAM and processing time. Most modern devices handle images up to 20MP or larger without issues. If the browser tab becomes unresponsive on a huge image, try refreshing and using a smaller source file.
Can I resize a transparent PNG?
Yes. Transparency is fully preserved when you resize a PNG and keep the PNG output. The alpha channel carries through the resize, so transparent areas stay transparent. If you switch on a target KB, the output is JPEG, which has no transparency and fills with white.
How do I resize an image to a specific size in KB?
Upload your image, set the width and height you want, then turn on Optimize File Size and enter a number in KB, for example 100. The tool lowers the JPEG quality step by step until the file is at or under your target, then you download it.
