An aspect ratio is the relationship between width and height, written as two numbers like 16:9. It describes the shape of a screen, photo, or video, no matter the actual size. A 1920 by 1080 image and a 1280 by 720 image are different sizes but share the same 16:9 ratio, so they look identical in shape.
This calculator does both jobs. Type any width and height to get the simplified ratio, or set a ratio and enter one dimension to find the matching one. With the lock on, changing the width updates the height automatically, so a resize never distorts your content. The preview shows the shape so you can check it at a glance.
It is handy for resizing images without stretching, setting up video exports, planning social media posts, and writing CSS. Everything runs in your browser, so there is nothing to install and nothing is sent anywhere.
