FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Adding text, drawing, social sizes, and privacy, answered.

Can I add text to a photo for free?

Yes. Open the Text tab, type your caption, and pick from five fonts including Impact for memes. Set the color and a black outline for readability, then drag the text anywhere on the image. It downloads with no watermark and no signup.

Can I draw or annotate on an image?

Yes. The Draw tab has a freehand pen, straight line, arrow, rectangle, ellipse, and a highlighter, each with adjustable color and thickness. It is handy for marking up screenshots. Use Undo to remove your last mark, then download the result.

Is this photo editor really free with no signup or upload?

Yes. There is no account, no signup, and no watermark. The cropper, filters, text, drawing, and export all run as JavaScript in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded to a server and nothing is stored.

What social media sizes can I crop to?

The Crop tab has one-click presets for Instagram 1:1 and 4:5, a 9:16 story, a 1280x720 YouTube thumbnail, a Facebook or Open Graph 1200x628, and an X header. Each preset sets the crop ratio and the exact download size for you.

Why does my JPG export have a white background?

JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent pixel must be filled with a solid color, and the editor uses white. If you need to keep transparency, export as PNG or WebP instead, which both preserve a transparent background.

What is the maximum image size I can edit?

The upload limit is 12 MB, and the editor handles images up to about 6000 by 6000 pixels. Larger photos still open, but very large files take a moment longer to render since all the work happens in your browser.
