Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using speech to text in your browser.

Which browsers support speech recognition?
The Web Speech API is supported in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. Firefox does not currently support speech recognition. Chrome on desktop provides the best accuracy and language coverage. If you see the unsupported browser notice, switch to Chrome or Edge.
Does the tool record or store my audio?
No. Audio processing is handled entirely by your browser's built-in speech engine. No audio data, transcripts, or personal information is ever sent to or stored on our servers. Everything stays local to your device.
Can I keep talking after stopping?
Yes. When you click the mic again to restart, the tool appends new speech to the existing transcript rather than replacing it. You can pause and resume as many times as needed in the same session.
Why does it stop listening after a short pause?
The Web Speech API automatically ends the session after a period of silence to conserve resources. Simply click the mic button again to continue. The tool will resume from where you left off without losing previous text.
